Title: Marrying Christopher (A Hearthfire Romance, #3)

Having seen both his sisters Grace and Helen happily married, Christopher Thatcher is free to pursue his dream of life in America. With adventure in his heart and mind, he boards one of the first steamships set to cross the Atlantic in the record breaking time of only twenty-five days. Within the first two of those, his resolve—to avoid women and the complications they often bring to a man’s life—falters when he meets Marsali Abbott, a young woman with a past even more troubling than his own. Whether from years of habit protecting his sisters, or simply because he feels drawn to Marsali, Christopher chooses to help her and becomes her friend. As the truth about what awaits Marsali in America becomes evident, he is faced with a more difficult choice, one that will impact their lives far beyond four weeks together at sea.

MARRYING CHRISTOPHER takes us back in time to 19th century England. It was one of the most realistic historical romance I've ever read. I'm not saying it was completely acurate, which even the author said it wasn't but the decribtions of the time was beliavable and I could imagine everything vividly.

Both of Christopher's sisters got succesfully married and now he wants a life of his own. He's only twenty-one, he doesn't want to settle just yet and his plan is to work in America and after while build his own house and even find a wife and have children. Eventually. But he doesn't know that fate has its own plan.

Marsili has no money, her aunt and uncle hate her and her only sister is in America. She bargained with a wealthy american man to pay for her boarding ticket on a steamship in exchange of four years of her life she'll spend working for him. Too late she finds out that he's a cruel and many of his servants mysteriously dissapeared a few days before their contract was to end.

Two lost souls meet on a ship and entwine immediately. Although Christopher tried to fight it for a while he had no chance. Not when he's the only one who can save Marsali from a despotic emloyer. But before they can have their happy ending, a disaster strikes their ship.

I found this book a bit longer than necessary and started to enjoy it around the middle. That's when something finally started to happen. And then it wasn't that bad.

The characters seemed a bit too serious (I get that their lives haven't been easy but some joking wouldn't hurt) and mature. Their relationship progressed fast which I could overlook but the "I-can't-live-without-you" was a little too much.

The ending was nice, didn't thrill me but it also didn't offend me. Either way MARRYING CHRISTOPHER was one of the most believable historical romance I've had the chance to read.
