Title: Nightwalker (The World of Nightwalkers, #5)
I made a tactical error. I actucally belived it when the describtion said it could be read as a stand-alone. Well, in theory it really could be taken as a stand-alone but lots of things didn't make sense and for someone who doesn't know a single information about this universe it's confusing as hell. Way too many names and different breeds.
While they were a LOT of points of view the whole book was focused mostly on Kamen and Vieve.
Kamen somehow brought the imp god Apep back into the world and Apep is pure evil. Kamen spent a year trying to find a way to send him back where he came from. By almost accident he found a clue - he has to unite all twelfe breeds/nations.
While doing so he meets Vieve. A wratith half-breed ridiculed by others. Kamen finds out that's not like the other wraith. She's got feeling, blushes and loves gardening.
She travels with him and those to are good to each other. He makes her stand up for herself and she brings out his softer side.
When it's time for the big final battle they are prepared. They've got the spells ready, the battle plan is solid. Altough it's not going according to what they had planned, the battle ends with victory. It was unsatisfying and so predictable.
Kamen and Vieve knows each other for three freaking days and they already love each other and can't be without the other one. Really? Three days. It takes me longer to decide which shoes I want to buy!
Maybe if I read the other books in the series I would have enjoyed this one more. But I didn't and probably won't.
