Review: The Hook Up (Game On, #1) by Kristen Callihan

4 stars! ****

Author: Kristen Callihan

Title: The Hook Up (Game On, #1)

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she's shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It's a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on.

Those four stars are only because of Drew. If there was only a little differently written male character it wouldn't reach it. Once again there was overly strong female character who thought that she can do everything on her own and that men are good only for ocassional hook ups.

Anna's father had left her when she was seven years old, her mother could never hold a relationship and Anna herself seems incapable of that. She doesn't want to be tied down, she thinks that emotions are a curse word.

Drew's parent died when he was in his teens and now he's in college and he's a fotball (not actual european fotball, but the american one) star. He's one of the best GB in the country and has a bright future in front of him.

From the moment he's seen Anna, he's been under her spell. He tried pursue her and she gave him the cold shoulder. But he didn't stop. He finally hunted her down and they had a one night stand at some frat party in the bathroom.

That's all Anna wants it to be. One time thing. But her attraction to Drew is uncontrolable. She doesn't refuse him anymore, but she wants him to be only her fuck buddy. And Drew is determined to change her mind once again.

I loved Drew. He's big, muscular and dangerous but he's got a gentle heart. And it showed in everything he did and said, in his every thought.

And then there was Anna. Most of the book she behaved like a selfish, uncertain, indecisive bitch. She got a bit better at the end and I even started to like her a bit.

Oh, and don't let me forget her BFF Iris who was even worse. Her boyfriend who acted like an asshole, cheated on her and she forgave him and even tried to take the blame? Welcome to Crazy town. Hopefully she won't have her own book, because I'd not read about her.

Back to Anna and Drew. They were good together - after Anna pulled her head out of her ass and admitted she felt something for him. They had amazing chemistry and they completed each other. Drew made Anna a better person. #teamDrew

If Anna was a bit less herself I'd have given THE HOOK UP five stars, but she was how she was so..
