Review: Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank

4 stars! ****

Author: Ella Frank

Title: Veiled Innocence

Tick, tick, tock.

Time.

That’s all I have now.

A small room, a photograph, and time.

They want me to trust them and confess my sins.

They told me they wouldn't judge me—they lied.

I thought we could convince the world that this wasn't a crime.

We were wrong.

Time doesn't stand still.

The clock keeps ticking, the world is unconvinced, and now…

Now he is gone.

Tick. Tick. Tock.

I ate this book up. I enjoyed it from the first letter to the first. In the beginning it was a bit confusing - it's told from dual POV but it's not distinguished in any way, so it took me couple of pages to even realize that it's told by two different people (it didn't make much sense to be honest and for a while I was wondering why do people even like this book? :D). But once I got used to the way it's written I couldn't stop reading.

This book takes us to a highschool. It's not young-adult, it's not new-adult. It's about forbidden relationship and boundaries. I'm Switzerland when it comes to this type of books but usually end up disappointed when I read one. This time I hit the jackpot!

Addison is in highschool. She's popular, track team star, the most popular guy is her boyfriend. She seems perfect, but her life is nowhere near it. Her little brother died and she blames herself for it, because she wasn't on time. Her mother and father also blame her. Two years later and she's developed an obsession with time. Tick.Tick.Tock.

Grayson moved to help his father who's terminaly sick. He started to teach history at local highschool and he's determined to make the best out of the situation he's in.

That's until he meets Addy. A beatiful, blue eyed girl who's determined to seduce him. As a teacher he's supposed to brush her off, bur as a man he can't help himself.

In the beginning I was a bit annoyed and confused with the way it was written. Constant jumping between past and present and also jumping between the character's POVs. But after a while I didn't mind it at all. It made it way more interesting and gripping.

The present is set after the relationship between Addison and Grayson is revealed and the past shows us how their relationship started and how it progressed.

I think it's incredibly well written. I wondered all the time how it all blown in their faces, how it was revealed, where is Grayson now? The answer to that is in the very end and it just fits the whole mood of the book.

The characters were both likeable and I think that many people can relate to them.

Both of them were a bit obsessive. Addy more than Grayson and usually it annoys the living hell out of me, but in this case it was that well written that I didn't mind it and even enjoyed it.

I've never read anything by ELLA FRANK before and I'm sure that it's not my last.
