Review: Bound by Temptation (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #4) by Cora Reilly

3.5 stars! ****

Author: Cora Reilly

Title: Bound by Temptation (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #4)

Liliana Scuderi has been in love with Romero from the moment she first saw him. After her sisters were married off for tactical reasons, she hopes she might be allowed to choose a husband for herself, but when her father promises her to a man more than twice her age that hope is crushed. No begging can make him change his mind.

Romero has always ignored Lily’s flirting. Her age and status made her off-limits but even someone as dutiful as him has only so much control. Wanting her when she’s supposed to marry another man could mean war between New York and the Chicago Outfit, and Romero has always put the Cosa Nostra first.

Lily suspects her sisters and Romero would risk everything for her, but is her happiness worth that much? Is love worth a war between the Cosa Nostra and the Outfit?

I was really sceptical about this one - I didn't like Lily so I wasn't looking forward to reading her story. It was better than I expected but it didn't blow my mind. Not like Bound by Honor.

The books starts when Liliana is fourteen and annoying as hell, trying so hard to be mature when she's just a kid. And that's how Romero sees her at that time, like a kid.

There are some jumps (fast-forwards) until she's eighteen. We've seen the process how she became an adult. I liked seeing that, she stopped being so damn frisky and frivolous and flirty.

Lily had hard time at home. After Gianna run away her father become even colder and more hostile. She's home only with her little brother Fabi, who spends most of time with their father who's iniciating him way too soon to the "family". She hasn't seen Romero for almost two years and she thinks that it's over, that he was just a crush. But then she sees him again.

The best soldier of Luca doesn't expect to feel something other than protectiveness towards Liliana, but she's grown since the last time he's seen her. And she isn't flirty with him anymore and that bugs him.

They know that nothing can happen between them. It would mean war. But once they start they can't stop.

I'm glad I got to see more of Liliana. I changed my mind about her, she's not as bad as I thought. A bit clueless and sometimes self-absorbed but she's not so annoying to me anymore.

Romero disappointed me a bit. He started to like Lily out of nowhere, just because she was hot and not so young anymore. Not cool. He was so hot-headed and I don't think that someone who is supposed to be the best soldier can be so much impulsive, but whatever.

Their relationship seemed really fast. Not for Liliana, she wanted him for years. But for Romero. He almost didn't try to resist. He was like "no, we can't" and before she did twenty steps he changed his mind to "I don't care, I love you and I want to be with you. Luca has to suck it up." He spend with her couple of hours max and he loves her? I don't think so.

After reading I'm bit worried what will happen with Fabi, how he'll change after killing and working for his father more. I look forward to his book though.

The ending was weirdly too happy considering what happened and what their relationship resulted.

Btw why isn't Bound by Love out? It was supposed to be published already *crying*. I need more Luca!
