Review: Untamed (Thoughtless, #4) by S.C. Stephens

4 stars! ****

Author: S.C. Stephens

Title: Untamed (Thoughtless, #4)

The spotlight doesn't only shine. Sometimes it burns.

Being the bad-boy bassist for the world's hottest band has earned Griffin Hancock some perks: a big house, a fast car, and most importantly his incredible wife, Anna. The one thing it hasn't brought him is the spotlight. Anna tells him to be patient, that his talent will win out. But Griffin is through waiting for permission to shine.

Without warning, Griffin makes a shocking decision and takes the gamble of a lifetime. Suddenly he's caught up in a new level of lights, cameras, and chaos. One that pushes his relationship with Anna to its limits. Anna has always found his unpredictable behavior sexy, but lately he's seen an ache in her eyes--and it has his soul in knots. Just as the recognition Griffin seeks is finally within reach, the thing he loves most in life could be slipping through his fingers...

D-bags are back! And this time it's not about Kiera and Kellan. No. It's about Griffin and Anna. It's their story. It's their time to shine.

I had hight hopes about UNTAMED and I was worried how it'll actually turn out. I wasn't sure I could stand a whole book about those two as they are a bit too.. extravagant for me. And when I realized that it's only going to be from Griffin's POV I was so scared.

But it turned out to be better then I expected. There were times when I wanted to smack Griff, there were times when I wanted to smack the rest of the band.

Griffin is not content. He's never in the spotligt, the band turns down every single idea he has and he feels like it's not about the D-bags. It's about Kellan and his D-bags and the bassist no one knows about. He feels stiffled. He feels like no one's got his back except for Anna and their two little girls.

Those bad feelings keep piling up until the day he just blows up. He leaves the band and moves to L.A. to be a star of a new series. But it never gets aired. He lies to Anna about it and he goes to one casting after another. As the web of lies grows so does their debts.

He knows that once Anna finds the truth, she's going to leave him.

I was torn between feeling sorry for Griffin and hoping he's wake the hell up. Yes, the band didn't agree with any of his ideas, but that was because he didn't try and let's be honest most of his ideas were stupid. He was so self centered most of the time, only thinking about himself, his spotlight, his fame, never once really thinking about his family.

He was so concentrated on getting his fifteen minutes of fame that he never thought about the consequences. Everything he did was for his own well being.

On the other hand the guys from the band could have been a bit more supportive. Often they were harsh and unknowingly they hurt Griffin every time they brushed him off or gave him the cold shoulder.

Of course he changed. But to be honest, the change was too fast and too drastic to seem believable. He did complete u-turn in the span of days. Not completely, completely. He was still a douche but he started to talk about his feelings and he started to work hard, to concentrate, to support others then himself, to let others see that he cared.

After reading my feeling toward Anna changed. Before I didn't really like her but now I can stand her and I have a newly found respect for her and her choices.

The ending was both predictable and also kind of unpredictable, which is always good. It was sweet and gave the series a whole new closure that was more complex than it was in RECKLESS.

All in all I enjoyed it, I was glad to see the characters once again. The insight to Griffin's head was both exciting and bit weird (cause if there's one word that desribes Griffin, it's the word weird). I'm happy that S C Stephens decides to write this one.
